Jesus said, "He who believes and is baptized shall be saved..."(Mark 16:16)

Faith only advocates declare, "He who believes shall be saved and then shall be baptized."

2. Ananias said, "...Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord." (Acts 22:16)

Faith only proponents proclaim, "Saul had had his sins forgiven three days prior on the road to Damascus, the very minute he believed in Jesus."(The real question is why do men make statements that can be proved false by simply reading the Biblical accounts of Saul's conversion.)(Acts 9:1-18, Acts 22:1-16) Saul's sin were forgiven in Damascus, not on the road to Damascus.

3. The apostle Peter said, "There is also an antitype which now saves us, namely baptism....(1 Peter 3:21)

Faith only defenders profess that water baptism has nothing to do with salvation.

4.The apostle Peter said, "....and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins..."(Acts 2:38)

The champions of faith only doctrine say be baptized because your sins have already been forgiven.

5. Jesus said, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. (John 3:5)

Faith only interpreters say Jesus was actually saying, "unless one is born of amniotic fluid and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God."(The question remains, why would Jesus say men have to exist in order to be saved? Existence is self evident. Of course men who were never born of the flesh could ever be saved, because they never lived.)

If the Biblical accounts of water baptism are antithetical to what is found in church creed books, other extra-Biblical books, and what you have been taught all your life, what are you going to believe?

TWO CHOICES, GOD's REVELATION TO MANKIND OR MAN'S REVELATION TO HIMSELF?

(Scripture: NKJV)

YOU ARE INVITED TO FOLLOW MY BLOG. http//:steve-finnell.blogspot.com
Steve Finnellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12863026367048527526noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6333814327929452306.post-81604889444188776512014-06-25T19:31:51.248-04:002014-06-25T19:31:51.248-04:00Baptism occurs by fire and water. The second is to live the life that shows you have accepted the spirit. Sin separates us from the spirit. Hence when the spirit came after the ascension, the first charge of the apostles was the confession and forgiveness of sins even unto death (see James) Without this forgiveness we are still separated from the spirit by our sins. Thus the need for frequent confession. Charles Haddon Spurgeon once said, ”The Scripture is our inexhaustible textbook, the Lord Jesus our boundless subject, and the Holy Spirit our divine infinite helper.“ Most people are watching TV, playing on Facebook, or defending their doctrines and traditions instead of getting to know the Word of God and the God of the Word. The people are perishing with sicknesses and diseases because of a lack of knowledge of the Word. They don't know how to address sin, sickness, and temptation in their own lives, much less in their children and others. Too many ministers are teaching an acceptable, feel-good, relevant gospel of diversity instead of wielding the two-edged sword that divides asunder the soul and the spirit. The fear of God is a thing of the past. Is it any wonder the country is in the condition it's in? Yes, we need repentance, and we need more and more people going to their knees praying, crying out to God for His intervention in lives and the church, not just the country.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01317908166857424344noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6333814327929452306.post-30314177581629169702014-04-16T09:02:36.972-04:002014-04-16T09:02:36.972-04:00WELL-SAID!!!! My husband and I did not fall away from the Lord, we simply left the church we were attending because of the very same reasons you mentioned. Knowing the Word of God is critical as our Standard for Truth and the real, especially when there are so many voices, some not so pure, in our pulpits. The Holy Spirit indwelling us is critical to give us ears to hear beyond the natural and, especially, to hear the voice of God speaking to us. We need to be on our knees as never before keeping that close relationship and communication with our Lord. A garden untended will soon be overtaken by weeds and will not produce healthy fruit. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.NanWills2https://www.blogger.com/profile/15833294044385667569noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6333814327929452306.post-20085282555650314302011-02-23T13:16:17.437-05:002011-02-23T13:16:17.437-05:00Sorry *James 2:19 is the correct corresponding ver...Sorry *James 2:19 is the correct corresponding verse.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6333814327929452306.post-77845786845907881502011-02-23T13:11:31.733-05:002011-02-23T13:11:31.733-05:00Very well said, but it imparative to know that God...Very well said, but it imparative to know that God saved us by "GRACE through faith" Eph 2:8. You are being transparent in discussing "normal" Christianity (I did not say "average' Christianity).

It reminds me of something Jim Elliot once wrote: “Christians today haven’t got what the New Testament calls ‘singleness of heart.’ They haven’t got one constant desire. And that one desire I will name ‘the lust for God.’ I am using the word ‘lust’ rather than the love for God because the phrase ‘love for God’ has become almost trite. It is the lust for God that we are missing. You lust only after those things that you desire intensely.

“The lust for God is the thing that should characterize a Christian. Not that you’ve attained. Not that you’ve arrived. The apostle Paul says, ‘I haven’t arrived. I don’t pretend to have apprehended. But I press toward the mark.’ Paul had huge desires, and that’s what we ought to have.” (Jim Elliot: A Christian Martyr Speaks To You, page 25)

May God continue to richly bless you and give you much eternal fruit for His glory.ROBERT LLOYD RUSSELLhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04629365408484106745noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6333814327929452306.post-40001390299985149612010-09-30T11:34:20.739-04:002010-09-30T11:34:20.739-04:00Your words are meaningful and encouraging to those...Your words are meaningful and encouraging to those of us who desire to walk in obedience to our Lord Jesus Christ.
